Live In-Play
How Does Live In-Play Betting Work?
On hb888, live odds during a cricket match update with every ball and wicket. When a team performs well on the field, their odds shorten and the opposition's odds lengthen. This makes the game more engaging — you can place new bets at different moments throughout the entire match.
During the BPL and IPL seasons, viewers in Dhaka particularly enjoy live betting because the situation can change every over, giving sharp bettors the chance to spot new opportunities.
How to Read Odds
Understanding odds before you start betting is important. Here is a simple explanation of the three main formats.
Decimal Odds — The Simplest Format
The default format on hb888 is decimal. It tells you directly how much you get back for every unit you stake.
Example: Odds of 1.80 and you bet ৳500.
If you win, you get back ৳900 (৳500 original stake + ৳400 profit)
The higher the odds, the lower the chance of winning but the greater the reward.
Implied Probability
From decimal odds you can easily work out the probability of winning that the market is assigning to each team.
Formula: 1 ÷ Odds × 100 = Probability %
Odds of 1.80 give a probability of ≈ 55.6% — meaning the market believes that team has roughly a 56% chance of winning.
Quick Comparison of Other Formats
| Format | Example | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 1.80 | ৳1.80 returned for every ৳1 staked |
| Fractional | 4/5 | ৳4 profit for every ৳5 staked |
| American | -125 | ৳100 profit for every ৳125 staked |
hb888 uses the decimal format — the most straightforward option for newcomers.
Keep in mind that odds include the bookmaker's margin, so the sum of all implied probabilities always exceeds 100%.
